“Falcon Down is no diamond in the rough, he’s more like freshly broken glass spat out by the ocean, raw, sharp and unpolished. The lure of this undiscovered artist’s music is both exciting and captivating. You don’t need to listen for long before you start to sink into the true depth and beauty of these songs.”
'Bear in the Cannon - Acoustic Sessions' album available to stream now and it is full dark, first it's going to hit then it's going to bite you.
Falcon Down's only full time member and sole song writer is Daniel Childerley. Guest performers on the recent release are Vocals by Pat Erson, Cello by Vera Martinez and Piano by Polina Chornaya.
The songs on this concept album are mainly told from the perspective of a bear cub ripped from his mothers arms and unfold in a time line of life changing events. Genre and soundscape of this concept album is Dark Folk for the damned
Falcon Down was rehearsing with 'The NoHawks' a classic punk rock band when the world seemed to stop. He decided to put down his drum sticks and picked up his neglected guitars.
Writing songs at the end of the world in a drum shed which is constantly battered by the wind is all the inspiration one really needs. His song writing process like the tracks themselves is rather niche, he goes walking amongst the strong gales and lets their melodies merge with his tinnitus. The results are different but nobody ever stood out by being a facsimile. He embraces his flawed but effective vocal and writes meaningful and honest lyrics.
He may falter but he never quits.
His new home on Shetland has been a huge influence on this release and If you ever get a chance you too should visit the home of the world's largest Viking fire festival.
His Influences include: Yusuf/Cat Stevens, Deftones and Biffy Clyro to name a few.
All songs by Daniel Childerley.
